Low Maintenance Decks
There are 3 primary types of low-maintenance decking:
-Capped composite
-PVC
-Mineral composite
These materials don't fit every budget, but require very little maintenance. Unlike wood decks, low-maintenance boards are installed using hidden fastening systems to create a splinter-free surface. With woodgrain textures, and a large variety of color options, these materials open the door for customization that is impossible with wood.
A low maintenance deck should be viewed as an investment. Despite the significantly higher initial cost, these products save time, money, and headaches in the long run. They are rot-resistant and don't require painting or staining to maintain their appearance and durability. With warranties ranging from 25 to 50 years, these products are built to last longer than the deck structure itself.
Artificial decks can accumulate dirt and debris like any other outdoor surface and should be cleaned periodically to remove these substances, and maintain an optimum appearance. This minimizes the possibility of staining or discoloration from dirt, debris, and the range of weather we see here in Indiana.
All of the decking that we install is produced by leading brands in the industry that stand behind their products.

Low maintenance composite decking is the most popular and common artificial decking option. These types of boards have a core made up of recycled materials and condensed wood fibers. The protective outer shell (cap) is made from inorganic PVC materials, making the surface resistant to mold and mildew.

Mineral composite decking is known for its great traction and texture. Like PVC boards, this type of decking is made from inorganic materials, making it resistant to mold and mildew. Mineral composites are typically the highest in cost, but tend to stay slightly cooler than traditional composites, and are also much less less slippery. We primarily install two different mineral composite brands.

PVC decking is generally on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but also has a longer lifespan than traditional composite. These types of boards are created with zero organic material and are resistant to almost anything that Mother Nature throws at them. They tend to stay slighty cooler than true composites as well. However, in our experience, these boards are more prone to surface scratches because they are less dense than the Capped Composite boards.
